Indian Economic Service - Indian Statistical Service


  1. Nationality – A candidate must be either:
    1. a Citizen of India, or
    2. a subject of Nepal, or
    3. a subject of Bhutan, or
    4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
    5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  2. Age Limits For:
    1. Candidate must be in the age group of 21-32 years  ( not born earlier than 2nd August, 1991 and not later than 1st August, 2000 )
    2. Relaxation in upper age limit
      1. maximum of 5 years – SC/ST Candidates
      2. maximum of 3 years – OBC Candidates
      3. maximum of 3 years – Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations
      4. maximum of 5 years – Ex-Servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2021
      5. maximum of 10 years – blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped persons
        1. blindness and low vision
        2. deaf and hard of hearing
        3. locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy;
        4. autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness
  3. Minimum Educational Qualification
    1. Indian Economic Service – must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized University
    2. Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University
  4. Physical Standard
    1. Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to the Examination
