Engineering Services Exam


  1. Nationality – A candidate must be either:
    1. a Citizen of India, or
    2. a subject of Nepal, or
    3. a subject of Bhutan, or
    4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
    5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  2. Age Limits For:
    1. Candidate must be in the age group of 21-30 years  ( not born earlier than 2nd January, 1991 and not later than 1st January, 2000 )
    2. Relaxation in upper age limit upto

      2. maximum of 5 years – SC/ST Candidates

      4. maximum of 3 years – Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations
      5. maximum of 5 years – Ex-Servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2021
      6. maximum of 10 years
        1. low vision
        2. deaf and hard of hearing
        3. locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy;
  3. Minimum Educational Qualification
    1. Indian Economic Service – must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized University
    2. Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University
  4. Physical Standard
    1. Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to the Engineering Services Examination.

Engineering Service Exam Fee – Rs. 200/-

Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates are exempted from paying the exam fee.

Applicants should note that there will be a ceiling on the number of candidates allotted to each of the centres except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur.
