  1. Nationality – A candidate must be either:
    1. a Citizen of India, or
    2. a subject of Nepal, or
    3. a subject of Bhutan, or
    4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
    5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  2. Age Limits For:
    1. Candidate must be in the age group of 21-32 years  ( not born earlier than 2nd January, 1989 and not later than 1st January 2000 ) for the below mentioned post 
      1. Chemist (Group ‘A’)
      2. Scientist ‘B’ – Hydrogeology – Group ‘A’
      3. Scientist ‘B’ – Chemical – Group ‘A’
      4. Scientist ‘B’ – Geophysics – Group ‘A’
    2. Relaxation in upper age limit
      1. maximum of 7 years – for Govt Servants in Geological Survey of India and applied for Chemist Group ‘A’
      2. maximum of 7 years – for Govt Servants in Central Ground Water Board and applied for       (i) Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) Group ‘A’.
        (ii) Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical) Group ‘A’.
        (iii) Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics) Group ‘A’.
      3. maximum of 5 years – SC/ST Candidates
      4. maximum of 3 years – OBC Candidates
      5. maximum of 3 years – Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations
      6. maximum of 5 years – Ex-Servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st January, 2021
      7. maximum of 10 years – blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped persons
        1. blindness and low vision
        2. deaf and hard of hearing
        3. locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy;
        4. autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness
  3. Minimum Educational Qualification
    1. Chemist Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’(Chemical) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B – M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a Recognized University
    2. Scientist ‘B’(Hydrogeology) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B – Master’s degree in Geology or applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology
    3. Scientist ‘B’(Geophysics) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W. B. – Master of Science degree in Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or Marine Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Technology) (Applied Geophysics)
  4. Physical Standard
    1. Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to the Examination
