Eligibility for IES Exam / ISS Exam:
Age: A candidate aspiring for the IES / ISS service must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years. The upper age limit is relaxable for the scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, other backwards classes and few other reserved categories, which will be notified in the Union Public Service Commissions notification.
Educational Qualification:

Post Graduate Degree from a recognised university in
Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics. |
| For Indian Statistical Service |
Post Grade Degree from an Indian university in Statistics/Applied
Statistics/Mathematical Statistics. |
| Candidates appearing in qualifying degree exams are also
eligible provisionally subject to producing proof of passing along with
Detailed Application Form. |

Nationality:
A candidate must be either :—
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination as per the regulations specified in the examination notification.
