Union Public Service Commission Recruitment 2010 ( Livestock Officers, Deputy Directors )

1. Five Livestock Officers in Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture. Out of five posts, one post is reserved for OBC candidates.

Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational :

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry as listed in the First & Second Schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984.
  2. Registration in the Veterinary Council of India or Veterinary Council of States.

B. Experience : Three years’ experience in the Cattle and Livestock Development or Animal Health or Poultry or Meat and Meat Products.

Duties : To assist the Livestock Health related schemes run by State Government agencies on all India basis. To assist the policy and planning work of Livestock Health related issues for the Government of India. To handle Parliament Questions / Assurances related to Livestock Health. To coordinate with International bodies / Institutions like OLE, APCA and FAO on policy, planning and maintenance of livestock Health and the latest development in the field.

HQ : Initially at Delhi.

2. Three Deputy Directors ( Civil Engineering ) in Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture. Out of three posts, one post is reserved for OBC candidates.

Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational :

Degree in Civil Engineering of a recognized University or equivalent.

B. Experience : Five years’ experience in harbour projects, project surveys, sub – soil investigations, preparation plans and design of maritime structures.

Desirable : One year experience in survey planning and designing of aquaculture projects.

Duties : To organize, control and conduct survey and subsoil investigations along the coast and preparation of designs, detailed plans and estimates and preparation of feasibility report for fishery harbour, brackish water prawn farms and hatchery proposals under the guidance of Director.

HQ : Bangalore ( liable to serve anywhere in India ).

3. Two Assistant Soil Chemists in Soil & Land Use Survey of India, Department of Agriculture & Co-operation, Ministry of Agriculture. Out of two posts, one post is reserved for OBC candidates.

Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational :

Master’s degree in Agriculture / Agricultural Chemistry with specialization in Soil Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Soil Science of a recognized University or equivalent.

B. Experience : Three years’ experience in soil and water analysis.

Desirable : Knowledge of modern techniques of chemical analysis.

Duties : Technical guidance and supervision of all analytical works and maintenance of soils laboratory. Interpretation of analytical data for characterization of soil series and varied use potentials of the soils. Analysis of soil, rock, water and plant samples involving use of special technique.

HQ : Liable to serve in Nagpur & Bangaluru.

4. One Service Technologist in Fishery Survey of India, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture.

Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational :

At least 2nd Class Master’s Degree in Zoology or degree in Fisheries Science of a recognized University or equivalent. OR Diploma in Fisheries Science from the Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai or equivalent.

B. Experience : Three years’ experience in handling / servicing life saving appliances and fishing gear technology.

Desirable : Experience on board fishing vessels in handling life saving appliances.

Duties : Incharge of Life Raft Servicing Centre and responsible to make necessary arrangements for servicing of Life Rafts and HRU. Procurement of materials. Timely completion of activities of ILR centre and correspondence with the parties and sister organizations. Coordination with Mercantile Marine Department and Indian Register of Shipping for inspection of Life Rafts. Responsible to conduct the annual audit as per the ISO guidelines.

HQ : Cochin, Kerala.

5. Two Senior Scientific Officers, Grade – II ( Document ) in the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, CBI, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational :

M.Sc degree in Chemistry or Physics from a recognized University or equivalent.

B. Experience : Three years experience in a Laboratory in identification of Hand writing / typewriter prints / obliteration and analysis of inks.

Desirable : Doctorate degree relevant to experience under Essential Qualification from a recognized University or equivalent.

Duties : Reporting officer of the division. Conducting the examination / analysis of exhibits in respective division. Deposing as an expert witness when called upon by the court of law. Research and development work in respective field. Supervision of the Scientific work of scientific staff of the division. In the absence of SSO-I, SSO-II will look after the administrative works of the division. Any other duties assigned by Director, CFSL from time to time.

6. One Junior Scientific Officer ( Ballistics ) in the Central Forensic Science Laboratories under Directorate of Forensic Science, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational :

Master’s degree in Physics / Mathematics / Forensic Science with Physics or Mathematics as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level from a recognized University or equivalent.

B. Experience : Two years’ experience of Analytical methods and research in the field of Ballistics.

Duties : Assisting the Assistant Director in the examination of crime exhibits, R&D in the problems connected with the relevant field, conducting examination of crime exhibits, in receipt of stores and equipments. Crime Case Examination. Giving evidences in the Courts of Law u/s 293 of CrPC. Imparting training in their respective field of forensic specialization to the trainees from different investigating agencies / forensic science labs and other organization.

HQ : Kolkata / Chandigarh / Hyderabad with all India service liability.
