UPSC - Junior Scientific Officer, Superintending Mining Geologist Exam 2007
The scheme and Syllabus for the Recruitment Test in respect of the above post are as under:-
1. The test will comprise objective type question paper with multiple choice for answers.
2. The duration of the test will be 2 hours and the medium of the question paper will be English only.
3. There will be penalty for wrong answers. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.
4. The respective weightage of the Written-Test and the interview will be as decided by the Commission.
5. The Syllabus for the test shall cover the following broad areas: Statics and Dynamics, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines, Machine Design, Mechanics of Solids, Production Technology, Manufacturing Science including Machine Tools, Metrology, Industrial Engineering, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
The level of the question paper will be generally that of the B.E programs of Indian Universities.

Reference Union Public Service Commission's Advertisement No. 22, Item No. 01 published on 25.11.2006 with closing date of receipt of application as 14.12.2006 (21.12.2006 for applicants from remote areas) for recruitment of twenty one posts of Junior Time scale/assistant Works Managers (Prob.)(Chemical Engineers) in the Department of Defence Production, Ordnance Factory Board, Ministry of Defence.
Out of 21 posts, 03 posts are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, 01 post is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates, 05 posts are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates and remaining 12 posts are unreserved. Out of 21 posts, 01 post is reserved for Physically Handicapped Person (Locomotor disability or cerebral palsy) of any community.
The Commission have now decided to conduct a Recruitment Test for filling up of these posts on 16th December, 2007 (Sunday) at the following Centres:-

Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Reaction Engineering, Process Equipment Design, Process Control and Instrumentation, Fuel Technology, Safety and hazards in Process Industries, Pressure Vessels.
The level of the question paper will be generally that of the B.E program of Indian Universities.

Age limits as on 11.10.2007. The age limit shown against S. No.1 is relaxed age limit for SC candidates. The age limit shown against S. No.2 is normal age limit.
Age is relaxable for certain other categories.
Quals are relaxable at Commission's discretion.
Prescribed EQs are minimum & mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview where number of applications received is large the Commission will short list the candidates to be called for interview
Fee Rs.50/- payable in form of Central Recruitment. Fee Stamps ONLY to be affixed on application form. No other mode of payment is acceptable. No fee for SC/ST/ Physically handicapped Candidates. Candidates abroad shd enclose fee receipt issued by Indian Embassy/Mission.
