Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2007 Including SSC (Women Non-Technical) Course

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Defense Services Examination (I), 2007 on 18th February, 2007 for admission to Indian Military Academy Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for the Courses commencing in January, 2008 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the Courses (Men and Women) commencing in April, 2008.

Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding the Eligibility Conditions, Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centers of examination, Guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the Detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News / Rozgar Sam char dated 23rd September, 2006.

Conditions of Eligibility for Combined Defence Services CDS Exam 2007:

  • (A) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:
    • (i)For Indian Military Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 1989 only are eligible.
    • (ii) For Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1986 (2nd January, 1984 in case of NCC Naval Wing `C` Certificate holders) and not later than 1st January 1989 only are eligible.
    • (iii)For Air Force Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1985 and not later than 1st January 1989 only are eligible.
    • (iv)For Officers` Training Academy – (SSC course for Men): Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier than 2nd January 1983 and not later than 1st January 1989 only are eligible.
    • (v) For Officers` Training Academy – SSC (Women Non-Technical) Course

    a) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1983 and not later than 1st January 1989.

    b) Widows of Defense Personnel who have died in harness (including those with children) are also eligible if they have not remarried. They will be granted age-relaxation of four years in the upper age limit i.e. they should have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1979 and not later than 1st January 1989.

  • (B) Educational Qualifications:
    • (i) For Indian Military Academy and Officer’s Training Academy:- Degree of a recognized university or equivalent
    • (ii) For Naval Academy:- B. Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.
    • (iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 LEVEL) or bachelor of Engineering. Candidates who are studying in final year Degree Course and have yet to pass final year degree examination or equivalent examination can also apply for Examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing by the specified dates published in Commission’s Notice for Examination.

  • C) Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to Combined Defense Services Examination (I), 2007 AS GIVEN IN Appendix-V of Commission’s Notice for the Examination published in Employment News / Rozgar Sam char dated 23rd September, 2006.

Application Form:

The Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs / Pos, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC`s “Forms Supply Monitoring Cell” over Telephone No.011-23389366 / Fax No.011-23387310.

Fee

Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC / ST candidates are exempted from payment of Fees. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).

Address and Last Date for Receipt of Applications:

All applications must reach the “Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110069” either by hand or by Post / Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 23rd October, 2006.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post / Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 30th October 2006.

Facilitation Counter and Website for Guidance of Candidates:

In case of any guidance / information / clarification regarding their applications, etc, candidates can contact UPSC`s Facilitation Counter near `C` gate of its campus in person or over Telephone No.011-23385271 / 011-23381125 / 011-23098545 on working days between 10.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs.

The Commission also has Website at address: http://www.upsc.gov.in over which the candidates can obtain details of the examination as well as information about registration of their applications, venue of the examination and results etc. Mobile Phones are banned in the Campus of UPSC Examination Halls.
