Applications are invited for the post of Library and Information Assistant (Group ‘C’ Post) in All India Radio, Chennai (Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST)

Name of the Post: Library and Information Assistant
Classification: General Central Services, Group – C (Non Ministerial)
Vacancy: 1 (One) – ST (OH candidates are suitable for the post)
Scale of Pay: Rs.5500-175-9000
Initial Place of Posting: Air, Chennai
Age Limits: Between 18-28 Years

Upper Age Limit is relaxable upto: 33 Years for ST Candidates, 43 Years for ST and OH candidates. (No age relaxation for Departmental candidates & Central Govt. Employees)

Essential Qualification: a. A Degree in Library Science from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
b. Should have studied one regional language concerned up to at least high school level either as a medium of instruction or as a compulsory or optional subject.

Desirable Qualification: Nil

Job Responsibilities:

1. In charge of the Library of the Station which contains books, gramphone and electrical recordings and tapes. He should maintain separate stock registers in form S-48 for books purchased and books received free, in Air – A4 for gramphone records purchased and in form Air – A6 for electrical recordings and tapes.
2. The accounts of Transcription Service Records may be maintained in form Air – A5
3. A Separate Account of tapes supplied to the Station under the Circulation Quota from the Central Tape is to be kept in a register.
4. Should invariably take stock of books, gramphone Records, electrical recordings etc. in his charge on the following occasions:-
1) On appointment to the post of Librarian
2) On return from leave and
3) On transfer
5. A cent percent physical verification of the books should be undertaken at the end of each financial Year.
