SSC Eastern Region Recruitment invites applications from Citizens of India under Para-3 of this Notice, for the following SSC Group “B” and Group “C” Selection Post. Description of SSC posts are mentioned at Para-1 and other terms and conditions are mentioned at Para-4 to Para-20 of SSC Eastern Region Recruitment Notice. Willing applicants under Para-3 of this Notice are advised to go through all parameters under different Paras and Sub-Paras of this Notice and satisfy themselves about their suitability on Age limit and Essential Qualification(s) for the SSC posts, before applying.

1. Description of SSC Post

1.1 Category No. of Staff Selection Commission Post : ER-01

Name of SSC Post : Technician

Classification : General Central Service, Group “C”, Non-gazetted, Non-ministerial

Vacancy in Technician Post : 02 ( UR-02 )

Department : Animal Quarantine and Certification Service ( ER ), M/o Agriculture, D/o Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Kolkata.

Age : Between 18 and 27 years. ( SSC Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions )

PSL : Rupee 5200–20200/-, Grade Pay Rupee 2400 /-, ( PB-1 )

E.Q. : B. Sc. ( Biology / Microbiology ) from a recognized University.

D.Q. : Nil

I.P. : Seaport / Kolkata Airport or any place in Eastern Region with AISL.

J.R. : Laboratory work i. e. collection of samples, sending of samples, testing of samples and preparation of report etc., quarantine field work in the check post offices or any other work entrusted by the officer. Collection of samples and preparation of reports and to assist the Quarantine Inspector.

1.2 Category No. of Post : ER-02

Name of Post : Sub-Editor ( Bengali )

Classification : Group “B”, Non-gazetted

Vacancy : 01 ( UR-01 )

Department : Central Reference Library, Ministry of Culture, Department of Culture, Kolkata.

Age : 18-25 years ( Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions )

PSL : Rupee 5500–9000/- ( pre-revised )

E.Q. :

  1. Graduate from recognised University.
  2. Degree in Librarianship ( BLIS or MLIS ) or equivalent qualification of a recognised University / Institution. Not less than 2 years experience of work in big library.
  3. The candidate should possess proficiency upto Matriculation or equivalent standard in the language concerned.

D.Q. : Nil

I.P. : Kolkata with AISL.

J.R. :

  1. Receiving books from the D.B. Act Section of the National Library and maintaining the statistics of books thus received.
  2. Checking the authorship of books received with the authority cards maintained in the Indian National Bibliography Section.
  3. Cataloguing of books.
  4. Classifying the books.
  5. Preparation of INB data sheet with diacritical marks.
  6. Data entry of the records in computer.
  7. Creation of subject directory.
  8. Checking of the monthly issues of the bibliography.
  9. Maintaining the publishers list.
  10. Preparation and dispatch of request slips to authors and publishers for bibliographical details not found in the books received under the D. B. Act.
  11. Preparation of the manuscript of the language bibliographies in language script
  12. Assisting Assistant Editors in proof reading of roman script monthly / Annual volumes.
  13. Dispatch of books to the respective language section of the National Library.
  14. Maintenance of monthly statistics.
  15. Helping the English and Govt. Publications Section ( Whenever there are large number of books or when any one of them goes on leave or when one person is busy in discharging other general duties ).

Instruction for PH candidates : The SSC Sub-Editor post is identified suitable for HH candidates.

Special Instruction for the post of Sub-Editor ( Bengali ) : Crucial date for determining age and EQ in respect of the post of Sub-Editor ( Bengali ) is 14/02/2011. The candidates who have already applied for this post ( Category No. ER-02 of Advt. No. ER-07/2010 advertised in Employment News / Rozgar Samachar dated 15/01/2011 ) need not apply again for the post of Sub-Editor ( Bengali ).

Department : Botanical Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair.

Age : Below 26 years ( Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions ).

PSL : Rupee 5200 – 20200/-, Grade Pay Rupee 2800 /-, ( PB-1 )

E.Q. : B. Sc. with Botany as one of the subjects of a recognised University.

D.Q. :

  1. Experience of work in a Botanical Laboratory,
  2. Chemistry as one of the subjects in the B. Sc. Stage,
  3. Ability to read and write Hindi

I.P. : BSI, ANRC, Port Blair with AISL.

J.R. :

  1. Maintenance of laboratory equipment, scientific instruments and apparatus, chemicals and preparation of reagents, stains, graded alchohol etc.
  2. Attending to the regional flora collected in the botanical explorations, classifying them in their proper order and preserving them in the herbarium according to the latest herbarium method.
  3. To afford guidance to visitors to the Botanical Museum and explaining details about the exhibits, maintenance, preservation and replacement of the perishable collection of plants; and

Technical Officer

Department : Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Faridabad.

Age : 18 to 25 years. ( Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions ).

PSL : Rupee 5200 – 20200/-, Grade Pay Rupee 2000/-, ( PB-1 )

E.Q. : Intermediate with Science in Zoology / Botany / Agriculture or 10+2 class pass with Science ( with Zoology / Botany / Agriculture ) from a recognized University / Board or equivalent.

D.Q. : Nil

I.P. : CIPMC, Port Blair, PQS, Haldia and PQS, Gopalpur with AISL.

J.R. :

  1. To assist Technical Officers in all kinds of work relating to Plant Protection whether in the field or indoor.
  2. To assist in the collection and maintenance of insect and plant disease specimen, information about pests, plant diseases and weeds and in the maintenance of pesticides, plant protection equipments and various types of display materials and of the records connected therewith.
  3. To perform all duties connected with plant protection and the station or the office to which they may be attached in accordance with the orders of the controlling or senior officers of the Directorate.

SSC Library Clerk post is identified suitable for OH ( OL & OA ) candidates.

3. Nationality / Citizenship :

A candidate must be either :

  1. a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal, or
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or
  4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the SSC Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

    Respected Sir,
    My paper was on 19 March 2012 in Gorekpur.. I had filled the paper for CRPF.. But when i went on the examination center then they said that paper is of SSC…now no reschedule date has come…what is solution for this
