Staff Selection Commission Statistical Investigators Grade IV Examination 2008
Staff Selection Commission will hold on Sunday, the 25th May, 2008 (Subject to availability of confirmed number of vacancies from the Indenting Department) an open competitive examination for recruitment to the post of Statistical Investigator Grade IV of Subordinate Statistical Service (SSS), a Group'C non-Gazetted non-Ministerial post in the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation in the pay scale of Rs.5000-8000, all over the country.
2(a) Vacancies: Firm number of vacancies to be determined in due course as the same is awaited from the Indenting Department.
Category-wise reservation of vacancies among SC/ST/OBC/PH etc. are applicable as per extant Government Orders.
Note-I: Other Backward Class (OBC) for the purpose of Age Relaxation and Reservation will mean "Persons of OBC category not belonging to the Creamy Layer" as defined in Department of Personnel and Training Office Memorandum No.36012/ 22/93-Estt(SCT) dated 8.9.1993 and modified vide Govt, of India Department of Personnel and Training OM No. 36033/3/2004-Estt (Res) dated 09.03.2004.
Note-II: Candidates selected for appointment are liable to serve anywhere in India i.e. All India Service Liabilities (AISL).
2 (b) Reservations
Three percent reservation for the Visual impaired/Hearing impaired/and person with locomotive disability (1% in each category) is available for this post. Orthopaedically Handicapped (OH)/ Hearing Handicapped (HH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates with the Lower limit of disability for the purpose of reservation as per "Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 is forty percent. There is, however, no upper limit.
As per clarification received from the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Physically Handicapped (OH/HH/VH) with the following level of impairment are eligible for the post-of Statistical Investigator Grade IV of SSS.

Note-I: The work is normally inside in well lighted rooms. However, the candidate selected under the Physically Handicapped category (OH/HHA/H) may have to visit fields for collecting information. Worker usually works alone. It does not involve any hazards. During discussion and presentation bilateral communication is required. The incumbent needs to be considered with aids and appliances.
Note-II: "There will be no provision of Braille script in respect of Question Papers & Answer Book /sheet for VH candidates. However, there is provision for Scribe for VH candidates with visual disability of 40% and above. The Scribe will be provided by the Commission on receipt of request from the Visually Handicapped candidates in writing and well in advance.
Note-III: VH candidates with disability upto 40%, who wish to use Magnifying Glass for reading Question Papers and for writing/indicating Answer, shall be allowed to use the Magnifying Glass in-the Examination Hall. However, such candidates will have to bring their own Magnifying Glass in the examination hall.
3. Nationality / Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or,
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st Januarys 962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above, shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
