Applications are invited for the following Group 'C' Selection Posts. Descriptions of posts are mentioned at Para-1 and other terms and conditions are mentioned at Para-2 to 17 of this Notice respectively. Willing applicants are advised to go through all parameters under different Paras and Sub-Paras of this Notice and satisfy themselves about their suitability on Age-limit and Essential Qualification for the posts, before apply.

1. Description Of Group 'C' Posts

Category No: ER-01 : Library & Information Assistant (General) [Vacancy: 01 (UR-01)]

Department: National Library, Kolkata.

Age: 18 to 28 years. (Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions).

Pay-Scale: Rs. 5500 - 9000/-

Education Qualification:

• A Bachelor's degree from a recognised University
• degree in Library Science from a recognised University; and

Note: Qualification are relaxable at the discretion of the Staff Selection Commission/ Competent Authority in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Initial Posting: Kolkata with AISL

Job Requirements: Classifying, Cataloguing and accessioning of new books, re-cataloguing of old books, correcting proofs for printed catalogues, dealing with loan of books to both local and mofussil borrowers, supplying information to and dealing with readers, other technical matters etc. and as per RRs, as amended from time to time.

Category No: ER - 02 : Library & Information Assistant (Language)

[Vacancy : 04 (UR-02; OBC-01& SC-01) [Gujrati Language-01(Ur); Kannada Language-01(Ur); Malayalam Language-01(OBC) & Assamese Language-01 (Sc).

Department: National Library, Kolkata.

Age: 18 to 28 years. (Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions).

Pay-Scale: Rs.5500-9000/-

Education Qualification:

• A Bachelor's degree from a recognised University;
• A degree in Library Science from a recognised University; and
• Proficiency in the language concerned at the Matriculation or equivalent level from a recognised Board.

Pay-Scale: Rs.5000 - 8000/-

Education Qualification:

• A Bachelor's degree with Physics and Chemistry; and
• A Certificate in Photography from a Government recognised Organisation.

Job Requirements: Opening /entry in the Indent/Microfilming Registers and their maintenance; preparation of targets; collection of raw materials; arranging material for microfilming; preparation of Camera; preparation of positive copies of the master negatives for consultation of research scholars, etc. and as per RRs, as amended from time to time.

Category No: ER-04 : Library & Information Assistant (Display)[Vacancy: 01 (UR-01)].Department: National Library, Kolkata.

Age: 18 to 28 years. (Age relaxation is admissible as per instructions).

Pay-Scale: Rs.5000 - 8000/-

Education Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from a recognized University.

Job Requirements: To organize exhibitions. To keep an account of the various exhibits. To prepare various graphs, line plan, charts etc. To maintain an account of the photographs, portraits, blocks, charts and other special materials. To arrange the Display materials. To help other organisation in organising their exhibitions, as and when requested to do so. To arrange borrowing of. special exhibits from other institutions. To take care of the devices for displaying objects viz tables, shelves, bookcases, display racks for books or magazines etc. other display work as an when required and as per RRs, as amended from time to time.

Category No: ER-05 : Library Clerk(General) [Vacancy:02 (UR-02)]

Department: National Library, Kolkata

Age: 18 to 25 years. (Age relaxation is admissible as per Instructions).

Pay-Scale: Rs.3050-4590/-

Education Qualification:

• Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Institution; and
• A certificate in Library Science from a recognised Institution.

Initial Posting: Kolkata with AISL.

Job Requirements: Reference service and supply of books to the Readers and Borrowers; accessioning of books and magazines; assist the Library and information Assistants and Sectional heads in their work etc. and as per RRs, as amended from time to time.
