Pay Scale: Rs. 4000-100-6000.
Age Limit: 18-27 years (No age relaxation for SC / ST / OBC candidates). Relaxable for Central Government servants' by 13 years in accordance with instructions issued by the Central Government). (This age relaxation is admissible only to Civilian Central Government Servants and not to Armed Force Personnel).
The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Laddakh division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Subdivision of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep).
Education Qualification:
Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University / Board, and
(a) Minimum speed of 80 words per minute in stenography(English / Hindi) and
(b) 40 words per minute in typewriting (English) or 30 words per minute in typewriting (Hindi).
IP: Bangalore, Kamataka with AISL.
Junior: He should keep the officer free from the worries of a routine nature by mailing correspondence, filing papers, making appointments, arranging meetings and collecting information. He should be skilled in human relations. An officer has to depend on his Stenographer for routine jobs so as to have more time to devote himself to the work in which he has specialized. The Stenographer should earn the trust of his officer for being entrusted with confidential and secret papers. He is the keeper of secrets and an Assistant to the boss. He should be popular with the persons who come in contact with his boss officially or who are helpful to his boss or who have dealings with the boss as professional Men.Some of more specific functions are enumerated below-
Taking dictation in shorthand and its transcription in the best manner possible.
Fixing up of appointments and if necessary canceling them.
Screening, the telephone calls and the visitors in a tactful manner.
Keeping an accurate list of engagements, meetings, etc., and reminding the officer Sufficiently in advance for keeping them up.
Maintaining in proper order the papers required to be retained by the officer;
Keeping a note of the movement of files, passed by his officer and other officers, if Necessary.
Destroying by burning the stenographic record of the confidential and secret letters after they have been typed and issued.
Carrying out the corrections to the officer's reference books.
Relieving the boss of much of his routine work and generally assisting him in such a manner as he may direct.
