Staff Selection Commission will hold on Sunday, the 30.03.2008, a Combined Matric Level (Preliminary) Examination all over the country for selecting candidates for the Main Examination which will tentatively be held on 27th-28th Sept., 2008, for the following categories of Matric level Posts:
Grade ‘C’ Stenographers in the Pay Scale of Rs.6500-10,500/- in the Election Commission of India, Central Vigilance Commission and also in other Central Government Departments/Offices, viz., Ministry of External Affairs, Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ), Department of Tourism, etc. in the pay scale of Rs.5500-9000 mostly located in Delhi / New Delhi.
Grade ‘D’ Stenographers in the Pay Scale of Rs.4000-6000 in the various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Offices.
Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) in the Pay Scale of Rs.3050-4590 in the various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Offices (other than in Central Secretariat Clerical Service Cadre).
Note-I: Direct Recruitment to the Grade Of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ In Central Secretariat Stenographers Service (CSSS) Cadre And LDCs In Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) Cadre Have Been Discontinued by the government.
Vacancies of Stenographers Grade ‘D’ and LDCs are grouped/classified as under:
Group ‘X’ – For Ministries/Departments of Central Government located mostly in Delhi.
Group ‘Y’ – For Offices/Departments of Central Government including Attached/ Subordinate Offices located in States and Union Territories all over the country.
Note: All the above stated posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) i.e. the Candidate, on selection, could be asked to serve anywhere in the country.
Applications are invited from willing candidates for the Combined Matric Level Examination 2008. The candidates will have to apply in the prescribed Application Form, common both for the Preliminary and the Main part of the Combined Matric Level Examination, 2008 only once with the requisite fee.
No separate Application Form will have to be filled up by the candidates who qualify for the Main Examination and no fee will be charged again for appearing in the Main Examination. The Main examination will tentatively be held on 27-28TH Sept., 2008.
Change if any in the Main (written) examination as well as the centres of examination will be notified to the successful candidates through public notice in employment news / rozgar samachar and the admission certificates which will be issued to them by the regional office / sub-regional office of the commission separately for appearing in the main examination.
Candidates, who qualify in the main examination, will be separately called for the typewriting test/Stenography test.
Note: all the provisions relating to the three stages of recruitment, viz., preliminary, main and skill test/stenography, have been incorporated in detail in this notice. hence, no separate notice for the main examination will be published in the employment news / rozgar samachar.
2. Vacancies/Reservation
Firm number of vacancies for different categories of posts for Stenographer Gr. ‘C’, Stenographer Gr. ‘D’ and LDC will be determined in due course.
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/ExS/PH etc. categories are applicable as per extant Central Govt. Orders.
Note-1: Orthopaedically Handicapped (OH) and Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates are eligible for all the categories of posts viz.
Stenographers Grade ‘C’, Stenographers Grade ‘D’ and LDCs.
Note-2: Hearing Handicapped (HH) candidates are eligible for the posts of LDC only, and not for Stenographers Grade ‘C’ and Stenographers Grade ‘D’, hence HH candidates need not apply for posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Stenographer Grade ‘D’.
3. Nationality / Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
