B) Syllabi of the Written Papers:-

Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence

The objective type questions with multiple choices in this paper will broadly cover the following areas:

  1. General Mental Ability:
  2. The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical ability, and data interpretation.
  3. General Science:
  4. The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension and appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.
  5. Current Events of National and International Importance:
  6. The questions will test the candidates’ awareness of current events of national and international importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and interplay among nations.
  7. Indian Polity and Economy:
  8. The questions shall aim to test candidates’ knowledge of the Country’s political system and the Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India , including its indicators.
  9. History of India:
  10. The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This shall also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement.
  11. Indian and World Geography:
  12. The questions shall cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.

Paper II: Essay, Precis Writing and Comprehension:

This paper shall test candidates’ ability to bring to fore his/her ideas on the given essay topic, arrange them in a coherent, orderly, concise, understandable and lucid manner in effective and grammatically correct language free from spelling errors.

Further, this shall test candidates’ ability to understand the given passages for précis writing and comprehension and their skills to summarise the précis passage and reply to the short-answered questions on the comprehension passage.

Appendix - II

General Instructions:

  1. Candidates must use only the form supplied with the Information Brochure purchased from any of the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices listed in Appendix III. Form should be purchased from designated post offices only and not from any other agency. Candidates must use the form supplied with the Information Brochure only and they should in no case use photocopy/reproduction/ unauthorisedly printed copy of the form. The form will NOT be supplied by the Commission’s office.
  2. The application form must be filled in by the candidates in their own hand. Since this form will be processed on computerised machines, candidates should exercise due care in handling and filling up the application form. They should use HB pencil only to darken the circles. For writing in the boxes, they should use blue or black pen.
  3. Since the entries made by the candidates by darkening the circles will be taken into account while processing the applications on computerised machines, they should make these entries very carefully and accurately. Entries in the boxes are meant for confirmatory purposes and these should also, therefore, be made correctly. There should be no variation between the entries made by the candidate by darkening the circles and those written in the accompanying boxes. In case of any variation between the entries made by the candidates in the boxes and the accompanying circles, the entries in the boxes will be treated as authentic and final.
  4. Candidates should ensure that the signatures appended by them in all the places viz. in their application form, Attendance List etc. and in all the correspondence with the Commission, should be identical and there should be no variation of any kind. If any variation is found in the signature appended by him/her at different places, his candidature will be liable to be cancelled by the Commission.
  5. No change in the entries made in original application form will be allowed under any circumstances.
  6. The candidates are advised in their own interest to ensure that the applications reach the Commission’s Office on or before the closing date. Applications received in the Commission’s Office after the closing date will not be considered.
  7. While filling in his/her application form, the candidate should carefully decide about his/her choice for the centre for the examination. More than one application from a candidate giving different centres will not be accepted in any case. Even if a candidate sends more than one completed application, the Commission will accept only one application at their discretion and the Commission’s decision in the matter shall be final.
  8. On the Acknowledgement Card, the candidates should write their application form No. (as printed below the bar code on the form) and the name of examination viz. “Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2007”. They should also write clearly and legibly their mailing address on the Acknowledgement Card. A postage stamp of Rs.6/- (Rupees Six) should be affixed on the card. The Acknowledgement Card should not be stapled or pinned or tagged or pasted with the Application Form.

Eligibility Conditions (in brief):

a) Age limits: Candidates born not earlier than 2nd August, 1982 and not later than 1st August, 1987 only are eligible to apply/appear.
b) Sex: Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for CRPF and CISF. Only Male candidates are eligible for BSF, ITBP and SSB.
c) Educational Qualifications: A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree of a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or posses an equivalent qualification.
d) Fee: Rs. 100/- (Rupees One hundred only) (No fee for SCs/STs candidates).
