Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board - Syllabus
The syllabus for Part - I (Preliminary Examination) will be as follows:
1.(a) General Awareness and General Intelligence: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. The questions will be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matter of everyday observation as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries, especially pertaining to History, Indian Polity & Constitution, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Policy, Science & Scientific Research, National/International Organizations /Institutions etc. The syllabus of General Intelligence includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. Test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc.
(b) Arithmetical and Numerical Ability: Questions in the component of Arithmetical and Numerical Ability will cover Number System including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs, etc.
(c) Educational Psychology, Educational Technology and understanding of teaching/learning process and related topics: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general knowledge about the educational psychology, educational technology and understanding of teaching- learning process and related topics.
2. General Science and Social Science: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s knowledge with regard to general science and social science.
3. General English and General Hindi: In addition to the testing of candidate’s understanding of the English & Hindi Languages, its Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its correct usage etc., would also be tested.
4. In respect of Sl. No. 4 above, the question paper will only be in Urdu/Hindi, as the case may be, to test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of respective language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms etc. There may also be questions on comprehension of passage etc.
PART - II (Main Examination)
PART - II (Main Examination) will consist of Descriptive type Questions of 200 marks, as per the qualification prescribed for the post and to be answered in 2 ½ Hours. Main Examination will include descriptive type questions on the subject concerned, i.e. Hindi, Urdu, as the case may be and shall have to be answered in the language concerned.
C. Commom Instructions for Candidates:
1. If any of the dates on which duplicate admit card is being issued happens to be a public Holiday, the counters would be opened on the next day also.
2. The questions will be bilingual in Hindi & English wherever necessary i.e. except the language posts.
3. In Part – II (Main Examination), the candidates will have to write the answers in either Hindi or English except for the post of TGT/PGT (Languages)/Lecturer etc. i.e. Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Punjabi & Urdu (whichever is applicable) for which the answers are to be given in the concerned language only, at the space provided on the Question Answer Booklet itself. The medium of writing the answers must be specified on the Question Answer Booklet at the space provided. The candidates will not be given any additional answer sheet.
4. In Part – I (Preliminary Examination), each question shall carry one mark. There will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. No mark shall be awarded for the un-attempted questions.
5. Part – I (Preliminary Examination) (Objective type) will be of qualifying nature for short listing the candidates for appearing in Main Examination (Descriptive Type). Final merit list of candidates will be prepared on the basis of performance of candidates (marks secured) in the Main Examination (Descriptive Type) only. The candidates will have to qualify skill test at a minimum standard prescribed in the Recruitment Rules, wherever applicable.
6. The Admit Cards for the above mentioned posts are being dispatched to all the eligible candidates. The Board is not responsible for any postal delay/loss. If any candidate does not receive the admit card by the date specified as above, he/she may collect the Duplicate Admit Card from between 10.00 a.m. and 05.00 p.m on the dates specified.

The candidate who comes to collect the Duplicate Admit Card must bring with him/her the Acknowledgement Card or any other proof of submitting the application form as well as proof of his/her identity.
7. Reporting time for the Candidates at the examination centre on the day of examination is between 09:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. Entry to the Examination Centre will be closed at 10:00 A.M.. No candidate will be allowed to enter the Examination Centre after 10:00 A.M. under any circumstances. Candidates are not allowed to leave the premises of examination centre before the completion of Examination.
Note: The candidates are advised to report to the examination centre well in time.
8. If any candidate appearing for the above examination finds that his/her name, reservation category, post name, post code, photo, signature missing or incorrect in his/her Admit Card, he/she should get it rectified by visiting the Office of the Board on the dates, time and venue mentioned above. Any modification in the admit card at the examination center will not be allowed.
9. If a candidate receives more than one Admit Card, he/she should contact the office of the Board and get a single Admit Card issued. Note: No later request after the above mentioned dates will be entertained. Therefore the candidates are advised to come to the office of the Board on the above date & time only.
10. Blind candidates will have to bring their own scribe (writer) but the qualification of the scribe should be one level below the qualification prescribed for the post applied for. The qualification certificate produced of the scribe as the case may be should NOT have been issued prior to 2007. A prescribed Performa (Declaration of the Scribe (Writer) & Declaration by the Blind candidate in this regard will be sent to the Visually Handicapped candidates along with his Admit Card.
In case of non receipt of the above Performa, the blind candidates may collect the same from the Office of the Board on any of the working days from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., one week before the date of the examination. The Declaration of the scribe & the declaration of Blind Candidate should have to be countersigned by the designated officer of the, DSSSB. For this purpose the Blind Candidate is required to visit the office of the Board on the date of Issue of Duplicate Admit Card from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Blind candidate is required to bring his own original Visual Handicapped Certificate along with the following documents of the Scribe: [i.e.(i) Attested copy of the Identification Proof, (ii) Attested copies of Educational Qualification and (iii) Two recently taken Passport size colour photograph duly attested]. 50 minutes extra shall be given in addition to the normal time allowed of 2 ½ hours.
11. Scribe will not be allowed for partially Blind candidates. However they can bring their own magnifying glasses.
12. The Board reserves the right to reject the candidature of any ineligible candidate at any stage of recruitment.
13. If any discrepancy is found between English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu versions of this advertisement/ Notice, the English version will be treated as final.
