The details of test components of Section (A) is as under:
General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matter of everyday observation and development in science & technology as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Indian Polity & Constitution, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Policy, Science & Scientific Research, National/International Organizations/Institutions and functional aspects of Central and State Governments and Local bodies.
General Intelligence and Reasoning: The syllabus for General Intelligence includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. Test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc. The test also includes questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.
Arithmetical and Numerical Ability: Questions in the component of Arithmetical and Numerical Ability will cover Number System including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit and Loss, Discount, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Tables and Graphs, etc.
General English and General Hindi: In addition to the testing of candidate’s understanding of the English and Hindi Languages, its Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its correct usage etc., would also be tested.
Note:
Questions in section (A) and (B) above will be bilingual except General Hindi and General English as the case may be.
There will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
Part-Ii Exam (Descriptive Type)
Part: II will consist of Descriptive type Questions of 200 marks and to be answered in 2 ½ hours. The questions will be on the concerned subject as per RR’s i.e. Library Science, Library practices etc. and will be of the level prescribed for the post.
Note:
In Part-II, the questions will be bilingual in Hindi & English and the candidates will have to write the answers either in Hindi or in English at the space provided on the Question Booklet itself. The medium of writing the answers must be specified on the Question Booklet at the space provided. They will not be given any additional answer sheets.
Part-II (Descriptive part) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Part-I (Objective type paper) at the minimum standard which may be decided by the Board at its discretion.
Low Vision candidates will be allowed to bring magnifying glasses which are to be arranged by the candidates themselves.
The merit list will be prepared based on performance in both Part-I & Part-II papers taken together.
