6.0 Ex – Servicemen Candidates
6.1 ( a ) This employment notice contains vacancies reserved for ex – servicemen irrespective of their community against some categories
( b ) The term Ex – servicemen means a person who has served in any rank ( whether as a combatant or non – combatant ) in the regular Army, Navy or Air Force of the Indian Union but does not include a person who has served in the Defence Security Corps, the General reserved engineering force, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the Para Military Forces and
( c ) Who has been released from such service after earning his / her pension or
( d ) Who has been released from such service on medical grounds attribute to military service or circumstances beyond his control and awarded military service or other disability pension or
( e ) Who has been released otherwise than on his own request as a result of reduction in such establishment or
( f ) the persons serving in the Armed Force of the Union, who on retirement from service would come under the category of Ex – servicemen, may be permitted to apply for re – employment one year before the completion of the specific terms of engagement and avail themselves of the concession available to Ex – servicemen, but shall not be permitted to leave the Uniform until they complete the specified terms of engagement in the Armed Forces of the Union. Service Personnel who are to be discharged from military service on or before 31st January, 2008 are eligible to apply for this advertisement.
6.2 Ex – servicemen are required to clearly indicate all required particulars including community in the application form and enclose all documentary proof including Community Certificates in the prescribed format, as required. However, regardless of community, ex – servicemen will be considered only against the ex – servicemen quota, if available. If UR vacancies are not available, then only ex – servicemen belonging to those particular communities where vacancies are available will be considered against the ex – servicemen quota.
6.3 Ex – servicemen candidates who have already secured employment under the ex – servicemen quota in Central Government in Group ‘C’ / D’ categories will be given only age relaxation but will not be considered against ex – servicemen quota.
7.0 Serving Employees
7.1 A candidate serving under any Government or Public Sector Enterprise / Undertaking, including Railways should either apply through proper channel duly certifying their service details by the employer or directly to RRB with “No Objection Certificate” from the employer concerned. In addition, an advance copy of such application complete in all respects may be sent superscribing “Advanced Copy” on the top of the envelope / application so as to reach Railway Recruitment Board ( Chennai or Secunderabad or Thiruvananthapuram as the case may be ) before the closing date and time specified.
7.2 Andaman, Nicobar and Lakshadweep Candidates :
7.3 Candidates belonging to Andaman, Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands may be allotted examination center at Port Blair provided sufficient number of eligible candidates apply. Such candidates should enclose a certificate of domicile in Andaman, Nicobar or Lakshadweep Islands from a competent officer of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration or a certificate from the School / College last attended in Andaman, Nicobar or Lakshadweep certifying that the candidate had passed his / her examination from the School / College situated in Andaman, Nicobar or Lakshadweep.
8.0 Application Details
8.1 Candidates address should be in English in bold capital letters. Candidates are advised in their own interest to make arrangements with their local post office to have letters redirected to them if they have changed residence subsequent to their applying to RRBs. RRBs will not be responsible for any postal delay or change of address.
8.2 Photograph : Recent passport size photograph ( not more than one month old ) with clear from view in normal attire without cap and sun glasses should be affixed in the space provided in the Application Form. Two extra copies of the same photograph should be enclosed indicating candidate’s name and category number on the reverse of each photograph. If the photograph is not of recent origin, application will be rejected. Please not that the same photograph should be used for any subsequent stages whenever called for. If different photographs are submitted at different stages or if more than one application is received with different photographs, the application will be rejected and the candidate will be debarred.
8.3 Declaration : The Declaration in the Information Sheet is to be filled up in the candidate’s own handwriting English and every word indicated in the Information Sheet has to be reduced in the space provided. Failure to fill the declaration in full will lead to rejection of the application; Registrar for reconsideration on this score will not be entertained.
8.4 The candidates should only sign in running head either in English or Hindi and also affix three specimen signatures in the space provided separately. Candidates are required to sign in the Application Form, Information Sheet and Declaration to be submitted by OBC candidates. Signature should not be in Capital letters and all signatures ( at 8 places for OBC & 7 places for all others ) must be in same language and must tally.
8.5 Candidates should affix their Left Thumb Impression ( LTI ) in the spaces provided. The Impression should be clear and legal. The Left Thumb Impression should not be smudged, dark or unreadable of else the application will be rejected.
8.6 Application should be submitted separately for each category ( except for combined categories as specified ). However, not more than one application should be submitted for each category or group of categories.
Candidates are requested to read all instructions thoroughly before dropping / sending the application, otherwise, applications will be rejected on the following grounds
i. Applications not received in RRB Office before closing date will be summarily rejected.
ii. More than one application is submitted for the same category or group of categories.
iii. Applications that are incomplete, unsigned, not in proper format.
iv. Applications without signatures / Signature in Capital letters.
v. Applications without Left Thumb Impression or Left Thumb which is too dark or not clear.
vi. Application without declaration / incomplete declaration / declaration not in running hard.
vii. Application without attested annexure in correct format for proof of community.
viii. Application without latest photograph ( Not more than 1 month old )
ix. Applications with nil or inadequate examination fees ( IPO / DD )
9.0 Examination Fee
9.1 Candidates belonging to SC / ST and ex – servicemen are fully exempted from payment of examination fees for all categories.
9.2. For al other candidates, Crossed Demand Draft / Indian Postal Order of the appropriate amount ( non – refundable and dated not before 13.01.2007 ) should be attached along with the application form. The demand draft should be drawn in a ‘Nationalized Bank and should have validity period for a minimum of 6 months, Applications without DD / IPO will be rejected. The amount remitted as fee will be refunded under any circumstances.
9.3 In the space provided for sender’s name in the Postal Order and on the reverse side of the Demand Draft the following details should be written.
- Employment Notice number
- Name of the post applied for
- Category number of the post
- Name and postal address of the candidate
9.4 Money Orders, cash, Cheques and central recruitment fee stamps issued by Post Office will not be accepted and the application will be rejected.
9.5 RRB / Chennai, RRB / Secunderabad and RRB / Thiruvananthapuram will not be responsible for any postal delay. Applications received after the closing date and time will not be considered under the circumstances. Decision or RRB / Chennai, RRB / Secunderabad & RRB / Thiruvananthapuram in this regard is final and any request for reconsideration will not be entertained.
10.0 RRBs Decision is Final
10.1 The decision of RRB / Chennai, RRB / Secunderabad and RRB / Thiruvananthapuram in all matters relating to recruitment will be final and binding on the candidates. It will not be possible for RRB / Chennai, RRB / Secunderabad and RRB / Thiruvananthapuram to entertain any enquiry or correspondence while the recruitment process is on.
10.2 Legal : For any legal action arising out of this Employment Notice, the jurisdiction shall be only under the Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal / Madras Bench ( for RRB / Chennai ) or Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal / Hyderabad Bench ( For RRB / Secunderabad ) or Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal / Ernakulam Bench ( for RRB / Thiruvananthapuram )
RRB / Chennai, RRB / Secunderabad and RRB / Thiruvananthapuram have not appointed any agents or coaching centres for acting of their behalf. Candidates are cautioned against any such claims being made by persons / agencies. All recruitment for the Zonal Railways and Production Units concerned are being done by the respective Railway Recruitment Boards only.
