Indian Navy invites application from unmarried male candidates for enrolment as Sailors for Direct Entry Diploma Holders (3 Years) for – 2 / 2010 Batch.

Eligibility for Indian Navy:

  1. Marital Status: Unmarried male Indian citizens.
  2. Qualification: 3 Years Diploma with minimum 50% marks in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunication / Aeronautical / Ship Building / Instrumentation / Metallurgical Engineering from a Government recognized polytechnic / Institute.
  3. Age: Candidates should have been born between: 01 August, 1988 and 31 July, 1992 (both dates inclusive).

Pay and Perquisites

Pay & Allowances for Indian Navy Recruitment 2010:

The Basic Pay Band is Rupee5200 – 20200. In addition they will be paid Grade Pay at Rupee2000 + MSP at Rupee2000 + ‘X’ Group Pay at Rupee1400 + DA.

Promotion of Indian Navy Jobs 2010:

  1. Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer – I (equivalent to Subedar Major) with pay scale of Rupee9300 – 34800 + Grade Pay at Rupee4800 + MSP at Rupee2000 + ‘X’ Group Pay at Rupee1400 + DA.
  2. Opportunities for promotion to commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examinations.

Perquisites of Indian Navy Vacancy:

  1. During the entire period of training and thereafter, sailors are given books, reading material, uniform, food and accommodation etc., free of cost.
  2. Indian Navy Sailors are entitled to medical treatment and Leave Travel Concession for self and dependents, Group Housing benefits and other privileges like Insurance cover.
  3. Sailors in Indian Navy also have the privilege to avail annual and casual leave as per current regulations. Children education and house rent allowances are also admissible.

Written, Physical & Medical Exam for Indian Navy 2010:

Written Test for Interview:

  1. The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and of objective type.
  2. The Part – I question paper will have questions of English & General Knowledge, Science and Mathematics. The standard of question paper will be that of Indian Navy after 10+2.
  3. The Part – II question paper will have additional sections of Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical. The candidate will be required to attempt only one of the sections, which will be as per the specialisation in which he has completed the three years Diploma.
  4. However, final allocation of branch will be done at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) which will be indicated in call up letters dispatched to the candidates. Duration of question paper (both parts) will be of 90 minutes.
  5. Physical Fitness Test for Navy:

  1. Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection.
  2. PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 25 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push – ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.

Indian Navy Medical Standards:

  • Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
  • Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms.
  • Good mental, medical and physical health free from any disease / disability, likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties. Colour perception: CP – II.
  • No Cardio – vascular disease, surgical deformities like knock knee, flat feet etc., infection of ears, no history of fits or psychiatric ailment, varicose vein, corrective surgery for eye sight etc.
  • Medical standard should be as per the detailed guidelines issued by IHQ MoD (Navy) in No (Spl) 01/2008.
  • Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination.

Applicants declared Permanent medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital in previous recruitment for the same entry in Navy are advised not to apply.

Indian Navy Recruitment Training and Initial Engagement:

Enrolment Medical:

  1. All short listed candidates, who qualify the interview at INS Chilka, will have to undergo Final Enrolment Medical Examination at INS Chilka prior to enrolment.
  2. Candidates found ‘unfit’ during this medical examination will not be enrolled for training. No ‘appeal’ is permitted after the Enrolment Medical Examination at INS Chilka.

Indian Navy Training:

The training for the course will commence on 02 August, 2010, with 9 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by 4 weeks of sea training. Thereafter, approx. 2 years training at INS Shivaji / Valsura.

Discharge as Unsuitable: Sailors are liable to be discharged as unsuitable due to unsatisfactory performance at any time during the training.

Initial Engagement: The initial engagement is subject to successful completion of training. The initial engagement is of 10 Years.
