Indian Army Religious Teachers Recruitment 2015 as Junior Commissioned Officer for RRT 77, 78 & 79 CourseIndian Army Religious Teachers Selection Procedure

1. Indian Army 2015 applications are invited from candidates for recruitment of Religious Teachers in the Army as Junior Commissioned Officer for RRT 77, 78 & 79 Course. Religious Teachers preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental / Unit religious institutions. Their duties include attending funerals, ministering to the sick in hospitals, reading prayers with the convalescents, visiting soldiers undergoing sentence, giving special religious instructions to children and enlisted boys besides attending generally to the religious instruction and welfare of the Officers, Soldiers and their families.

2. Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer Eligibility 2015 :

  1. Age Limit for Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer 2015 : Recruitment of Indian Army JCO Religious Teachers for 77, 78 & 79 courses must not be below 27 years or over 34 years for civilian candidates and between 25 years to 34 years for remustered candidates as on first day of Recruitment Rally. Candidates are requested to contact nearest Recruiting office / Zone given in para 6 of Indian Army JCO advertisement for date of Recruitment Rally.   2. Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer Educational Qualifications 2015 : The minimum educational qualifications for Indian Army JCO Religious Teachers 2015 applicable for appointment to RT JCOs will be graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. In addition to this they must also posess following qualification accordingly to the religious denomination of the individuals :
    1. Pandit : Candidates with Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Or Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit / Hindi as one of the elective ( Main ) subjects but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi.
    2. Pandit ( Gorkha ) for Gorkha Regts : Hindu ( Gorkha ) candidates with Madhyama in Sanskrit. Or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the Nepali Language. Or Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit / Hindi as one of the elective ( main ) subjects but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi.
    3. Granthi : Candidates with Vidwan in Punjabi or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Or Those who have passed BA with Punjabi as one of the elective ( main ) subjects, but have not done Vidwan in Punjabi.
    4. Maulvi : Candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic, Adib Alim in Urdu or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Or Those who have passed BA with Arabic / Urdu as one of the elective ( Main ) subjects but who have not done Maulvi Alim in Arabic / Adib Alim in Urdu.
    5. Maulvi ( Shia ) for Ladakh Scouts : Shia Ladakhai Personnel candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic, Adib Alim in Urdu or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Or Those who have passed BA with Arabic / Urdu as one of the elective ( Main ) subjects but who have not done Maulvi Alim in Arabic / Adib Alim in Urdu.
    6. Padre : Candidates who have been ordained priesthood by the appropriate ecclesiastical authority and is still on the approved list of the local Bishop.
    7. Bodh Monk : Candidates who have been ordained Monk / Budhist Priest by the appropriate authority. The term ‘Appropriate Authority’ will mean Head Priest of the Monastery where the person has been initiated into Priesthood. The Head Priest should be in possession of Geshe ( Ph D ) of Khanpa or Lopon or Rabjam with proper certificate from Monastery.

    Note : For candidates applying for remustering the minimum qualification will be 10+2.

  3. Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer Cultural Acceptability : Candidates should belong to the culture of the appropriate religious denomination and religious qualification acceptable to the troops. Same will be tested during the interview. Cultural acceptance from the candidates will be taken in writing at the time of preliminary screening in ZRO / IRO / Trg Centres, where the candidates will be explained in detail by the Recruiting Officer on the cultural acceptability.
  4. Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer Medical Standard 2015 : A candidate should have robust physique and mental health, chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm. expansion, should have normal hearing with each ear. Should have sufficient number of natural teeth i.e. 14 dental points with healthy gums. Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins or piles. Candidates may contact nearest recruiting office / zones given in para 6 of the Indian Army advertisement for existing rules on acceptable medical standards.
  5. Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer Physical Standards 2015 : Minimum Physical Standards for Indian Army JCO Religious Teachers :
    1. Height – 160 cm
    2. Weight – 50 Kg.
    3. Chest – 77 cm.
    4. Physical Fitness Tests ( PFT ) – candidate should be able to run 1600 meter in eight minutes.
