Indian Air Force invites unmarried Male Candidates to appear in Recruitment Rally from 17th December, 2015 to join as airmen in Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades, Group ‘Y’  ( Medical Assistant ) Trade and Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor and Indian Air Force ( Police ) Only } Trades at Padmashri Govind Ram Nirmalkar Auditorium, Gaurav Path, Rajnandgaon ( Chhattisgah )

For Intake 02/2016 & 01/2017 

1. Indian Air Force offers opportunities for Unmarried Male Indian Citizens from the designated Districts of State of Chhattisgarh to join as Airmen. The Recruitment Test for Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades, Group ’Y’ ( Medical Assistant ) Trade and Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor ( GTI ) and Indian Air Force ( Police ) [ IAF (P) ] only } Trades will be held at Padmashri Govind Ram Nirmalkar Auditorium, Gaurav Path, Rajnandgaon ( Chhattisgarh ) from 17th December, 2015 to 22nd December, 2015 as per the Selection Programme given below.

2. IAF Airman Group X, Y Chhattisgah Selection Programme 2015 : The IAF Airman Group X, Y Chhattisgah Recruitment Test 2015 will be conducted from 7 AM onwards as per the details given below. Candidates ( from respective Districts covered below ) reporting up to 10 AM on 17 & 19 December 2015 at the Rally Venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Test. ( The Recruitment Test is not for Selection as Commissioned Officers / Pilots / Navigators ).

Eligibility Conditions for IAF Airman Group X, Y Chhattisgah Recruitment 2015 :

3. Date of Birth Block :

  1. Candidates born between 01st February, 1996 to 31st May, 1999 ( both days inclusive ) are eligible to appear in the Recruitment Rally.
  2. In case, a candidate clears the Selection Procedure then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years.

4. IAF Airman Group X, Y Educational Qualification 2015 :

a. For IAF Airman Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades Qualification 2015 :

  1. Passed Intermediate / 10 +2 / Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English ( or )
  2. Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering ( Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology ) from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.

b. For IAF Airman Group ‘Y’ ( Med Asst ) Trades Qualification 2015 :

Passed Intermediate / 10 +2 / Equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

c. For Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, GTI & IAF (P) only } Trades :

  1. Passed Intermediate / 10 +2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream / subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English Or
  2. Passed Two years Vocational Course recognized by Association of Indian Universities ( CBSE / Board of Vocational Higher Secondary Education Kerala ) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.

Note :

Exact aggregate % of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10 +2 / Intermediate / Equivalent / Two years Vocational Course / Three years Diploma Course or calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board / Polytechnic Institute will only be considered ( For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not to be rounded off to 50% ).

5. Domicile Requirement : To be eligible to appear in the rally at Padmashri Govind Ram Nirmalkar Auditorium, Gaurav Path, Rajnandgaon ( Chhattisgarh ) the candidates are required to satisfy the following conditions :

  1. Boards recognized / affiliated by Council of Boards for School Education ( COBSE ) and Association of Indian Universities ( AIU ) will only be permitted.
  2. The School / College / Institute from where candidates have passed the qualifying examination should be within the geographical / administrative limits of State of Chhattisgarh. If the name of District is not mentioned with the name of Institution in the certificate / marks sheet of qualifying examination, the candidates are to produce ‘Domicile Certificate’ issued by Tehsildar / Nb Tehsildar or any official authorised by the State Government of Chhattisgarh.
  3. Permanent Domicile of State of Chhattisgarh who have passed the qualifying examination from anywhere in India. However, such candidates have to produce the Domicile Certificate prior to commencement of examination from appropriate authority as given in sub-paragraph 5 (b) above.
  4. Sons of Serving Air Force Personnel, irrespective of their domicile status may be permitted to appear in the rally subject to submission of Son of serving Air Force Personnel ( SOAFP ) certificate ( Format available on AFNET CASB website ) ( or ) PPO, Discharge Book, Service Certificate issued from DAV / AFRO for Sons of retired / deceased / discharged Air Force personnel, in the following categories :
    1. Father / Mother is presently serving in any Air Force Unit located in the State of Chhattisgarh.
    2. Ex – IAF personnel / families of deceased personnel who are residing in the State of Chhattisgarh ( on production of proof of minimum stay of one year along with Original and a photocopy of Discharge Book, Service Certificate issued from DAV / AFRO for wards of retired / deceased / discharged Air Force personnel ).

6. IAF Airman Group X, Y Chhattisgah Medical Standards 2015 :

  1. General Medical Standards for Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades, Group ’Y’ ( Med Asst ) Trade and Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, GTI & IAF (P) only } Trades are as follows :
    1. Chest : Minimum range of expansion : 5 cm.
    2. Weight : Proportionate to height and age.
    3. Corneal Surgery ( PRK / LASIK ) not acceptable.
    4. Hearing : Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
    5. Dental : Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
    6. Health : Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from all communicable diseases and skin ailments. Candidate must be physically and mentally fit to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.
    7. Body Tattoo : Permanent body tattoos on inner face of the fore arms ( inside of elbow to the wrist ), Back ( dorsal ) part of the hand / reverse side of palm and Tribals with tattoos which are as per custom and traditions of their tribes only are permitted. However, right to decide on acceptability / unacceptability of the individual rests with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos are to submit a photograph of the tattoo with details of size and type of the Tattoo.
  2. Height, Leg Length, Visual Standards and Colour Vision for Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades, Group ’Y’ ( Med Asst ) Trade and Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, GTI & IAF (P) only } Trades are as follows :

7. Candidates discharged from Indian Army / Indian Navy / Any other Government Organisation are also eligible subject to their discharge with No Adverse Entries ( Original Discharge Certificate to be produced at the rally venue on the day of testing ). Candidates discharged from Indian Air Force for any reason are not eligible to appear in the rally.

8. Tenure & Training : Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable up to the age of 57 years ( Subject to service conditions ). Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training ( JBPT ) at Basic Training Institute, Belagavi ( Karnataka ). On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified durations. Training is however liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit. After successful completion of training, The Airmen will be deployed on Ground based jobs as per their allotted trades. Allotted trade will not be changed on candidates request on any grounds.

9. Pay & Allowances : During training, a stipend of Rupee11,400/- per month will be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Grade Pay, Military Service Pay ( MSP ), Group ‘X’ Pay { applicable for Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades only } and Dearness Allowance ( DA ) will be as follows :

  1. Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades : Rupee24,900/- per month ( Approximately ) which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rupee43,940/- per month ( Approximately ).
  2. Group ‘Y’ ( Med Asst ) Trade and Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, GTI and IAF (P) only } Trades : Rupee20,500/- per month ( Approximately ) which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rupee38,720/- per month ( Approximately ).

10. Other allowances such as Transport allowance, Technical Allowance { applicable for Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades only }, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance ( CPMA ), Leave Ration Allowance ( LRA ), Children Education Allowance, Family planning allowance, HRA etc. are also admissible to airmen.

Note : The above pay & allowances are under revision.

11. Perks : Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical facilities, Accommodation, CSD ( Canteen ) facilities, Leave ( 60 days Annual and 30 days Casual in a Calendar year as a privilege ), Recreational facilities, Transport for school going children and Leave Travel Concession ( LTC ) are also provided as per the existing rules. Notwithstanding the above, Group Insurance Cover of Rupee25,00,000/- at a premium of Rupee1,630/- per month is covered for all airmen and facility of Group Housing Scheme is also extended. Other facilities by Air Force Wives Welfare Association ( AFWWA ) are also extended to the family of airmen.

12. Job Specification for IAF Airman Group X & Y Trades 2015 :

a. Group ‘X’ ( Technical ) Trades involve jobs as given below :

  1. Automobile Fitter : In this trade you are responsible for maintenance and repair of all type of light and heavy duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment etc.
  2. Electronics Fitter : As an Electronics Fitter you operate and maintain Radar, Voice and Data transmission and reception equipment mounted on latest airborne weapon delivery systems and ground based air defense systems. You will get trained in Digital Electronics, measuring instruments, radar technology, latest electronics devices and related trade fundamentals.
  3. Electrical Fitter : You will maintain power supply system of latest types of aircraft, airborne missiles and associated ground systems. You will also maintain photo equipment mounted on air borne weapon systems and operate ground based photo systems. You will get trained in electrical trade, operation and maintenance of digital devices, electronic devices etc.
  4. Mechanical System Fitter : You will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles and aircraft fuelling equipment. Complete aircraft ground support equipment will also be repaired and maintained by you. You will be trained in handling and preparation of bombs and explosives and in electrical system, workshop and mechanical trades as well as automobile mechanics.
  5. Structure Fitter : As Structure Fitter you are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components and controls of aircraft. Regular checks for the entire hydraulic and pneumatic system to ensure proper functioning against leaks are also part of your duties. You will also be assigned the responsibility of marshaling, parking, picketing and ground handling of aircraft.
  6. Propulsion Fitter : In this trade you will repair, maintain and prepare for use the propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery system.
  7. Workshop Fitter ( Smith ) : You will undertake major structural repairs of all aircraft at central repair facilities. You will also be trained in workshop trade for material treatment, welding, heat treatment, smithy and basic machine tools etc.
  8. Workshop Fitter ( Mechanical ) : You will undertake repair and maintenance work of mechanical nature. You will be trained in workshop trade and practices.
  9. Weapon Fitter : In this trade, you will prepare, maintain and service armaments, ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles and other weapon delivery systems. You will also operate and maintain small arms and bomb destruction equipment. You will be trained to handle bombs, explosives, arms and their installation on weapon delivery platforms.

(b) Group ‘Y’ ( Med Asst ) Trade : As a Medical Assistant you are made familiar with Nursing and First – aid. You are also involved in Management of Medical Stores, Dispensaries and Ward supervision.

(c) Group ‘Y’ ( Non – Technical ) { For Automobile Technician, GTI and IAF (P) only } Trades  involve jobs as given below :

  1. Automobile Technician : As an Automobile Technician you will drive all types of light, medium and heavy automobiles, load carriers and specialist vehicles like cranes, towing tractors, fork lifters etc., subject to service exigencies. You will also carry out minor repairs, day to day maintenance and basic level servicing of the common user vehicles and specialist vehicles in the Indian Air Force inventory.
  2. Ground Training Instructor : As a Ground Training Instructor, you will train personnel on drill, parade, handling of arms and physical exercise. You are also responsible for organizing and conducting all games and sports activities.
  3. Indian Air Force ( Police ) : As an Indian Air Force ( Police ) your responsibilities involve assuming police duties and investigation of offences. You are also in charge of maintenance of security.

Note : Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ Airmen will also have to undertake any other tasks as assigned by superior authorities.
