Airmen Selection In Indian Air Force:
Unmarried male Indian Citizens can join the Indian Air Force as Airmen.
Eligibility:
Education: Pass in SSLC/Matriculation or equivalent examination. Minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. With pass in English.
Age: 18 to 23 years.
Height: 152.5 Cms , Chest 77- 82 cms, Weight 50 kgs.
Pay and allowances: Pay and allowances During Training Rs.2850/-. On completion of training Rs.5900 per month will raise up to Rs.12,300 depending upon the rank attained.
Selection Procedure:
Written test: English & Maths Objective type. On passing the candidates will be made to under go Physical Fitness tests: Run 1. 6 km in 8 minutes
On passing the Physical test, the candidate will be Interviews by the selection board. Passing in the interview is mandatory.
Medical Examination: all the candidates who are recommended after the Interview will be medically examined by the Air Force Medical Team.
Recruitment in the Air Force for Airmen:
The Indian Air force offers lucrative jobs for candidates who have passed 10th standard / Matriculation or equivalent examination with minimum of 50 % in aggregate. The student should have passed the min qualification with English as on of the subjects.
Age: Between 16 1/2 to 23 Years Should be unmarried.
Height: 152.5 cms Chest 77-82 weight min 50 kgs.
There are three types of Entry X, Y Z groups. X and Y are for Technical trades. Z for Non technical trades
Mode of selection: The candidates have to apply in the prescribed format. The applications will be called for during April and Oct. Kindly see Employment news during these months.
The Written will consist of English and General Mathematics and reasoning. The candidates who qualify the written test conducted in Aug /Jan would be required to undergo medical and oral interview. The selected candidates would be sent to Airman Training centres, located at Belguam. Karnataka, for a period of 12 weeks joint basic phase training (JBPT) on successful completion the trainees will be allotted trades and sent for trade training at specified durations.
Technical trade training would be conducted At Bangalore, Chennai. Depending upon the trades they would be sent for further training.
The Airmen do get opportunities to become officers in the Air Force on qualifying department examinations.
Pay during the training Rs 2,850 per month. On completion of training the minimum emoluments would be Rs. 5,900/- per month approximately. Which, in subsequent years , may rise up to Rs.12,300 pm (approx) depending upon the rank attained.

The Airmen has to pass departmental examination with in stipulated time frame to get promoted to the next higher rank. Airmen are allowed to serve up to 57 years of age.
