In order to provide military based education to children of serving and retired service personnel as well as civilian children, Military schools provide admission to boys aged between 11 to 12 years.
There are Five Military Schools in India.

Aim: The aim of the Military Schools is to provide healthy, liberal and sound general education to boys between age of 10 to 12 years without religious inhibitions and prejudices. The school also prepares them academically for the All India Secondary School Examination (Class X) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination Education, New Delhi and for the Entrance Examination for admission to the National Defence Academy and to fit them as leaders in any walk of life.
Motto: The schools Motto is embodied in Sanskrit words, “ Shilam Param Bhushanan” which means “ Character is the greatest virtue”
Admissions to these schools are on the lines of Sainik Schools. Entrance examination followed by Interview. The fees in these schools are comparatively cheaper than Sainik School as these are funded by the centre government. The schools have 300 boarders each plus 30 day scholars spread over from class VI to XII. 67% of the boarder vacancies are reserved for the sons of serving and retired JCOs and Officers of the Army and their equivalent ranks in the Navy and Air Force. 10 % seats go to service Officers and the remaining 13% go to civilians. From all categories of seats. 15% are reserved for Scheduled castes and 7.5 % are for the Scheduled Tribes.
The vacancies reserved for the sons of service personnel (JCO and Ors) are allotted by the Army HQ (GS Branch, MT 15) based on an entrance tests conducted by MR 15. GS Branch, AHQ in the month of December every year. Application forms and other details regarding eligibility etc, can be obtained by serving and retired Army Personl from their respective Record Offices mand from naval HQ (Education Branch) and Air HQ (Education Branch).
Admission for wards of Service Officers and Civilians: Applications of sons of service officers and civilians are to be submitted to te Principal in the appliation form. Boys are normally admitted to class VI only. Last date for application for admission to calss VI is invariably 20th September of every year.
Age: As on 01 July of the year of admission the age of the boy must be between 10 to 12 year for calss VI.
Admission Tests: Admission process has four papers:

Psychological Test - 40 marks

Numerical Ability Test - 60 marks

General Knowledge Test - 50 Marks

English - 50 Marks
Medical Standards The boy has to pass the medical examination which will be conducted by Military Hospital. The school does not supply any sample question papers, the standard will be that of class V of any Central School.
School Fees: Fees are charged in one installment for 10 months (July to April) each year at flat rates for all classes (VI to XII ) As follows:
