Merchant Navy (Civilian Organisation):

There are a number of Civilian Institutes which, train candidates for Merchant Navy ships. Some of the posts are as follows:
 
Deck Cadets: They work as technical hands on board of the ships.

Elgibility:  10 + 2 With PCM aggregate not less than 60 % . English as separate subject with atleast 50 % in the 10th and 12th statndard.

Age Limit: 20 Years.

Eye Sight: 6/6 with 0ut eye glasses. No Colour Blindness.

Marine Engineers   - Naval Architecture, B.E Mechanical Engineers
Ship Administrative Assistants -  B.Com., M.Com., BBA., MBA., BCA., BIT with accounts as a paper.

Age Limit: 25 years

Selection will be based on the Basis of entrance test and Interview. Selected candidates will be required to undergo Pre-Sea training Programme at their Own Cost. The last three posts the eye sight corrected to 6/6 (acceptable +- 2.5)

A candidate can also apply for INS Rajendra a Merchant Navy Training Ship. Located at Mumbhai.
Eligibility:  10 + 2 (PCM) 17 to 20 years. Should have passed the Joint Engineering Examination.These candidates would be called for Interview.The course has to be paid for. This is a govt recognized. Institute.
