Government of India – Director General of Civil Aviation offers scholarship / stipend to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates selected for Flying Training up to Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL) standard in various Flying Clubs / Schools during every financial year. Eligibility : Between 17 to 20 Years as on the 1st of April of then year of award of scholarship.
Parents Income: Parents income not exceeding 44,500/- per annum for 2005- 2006 (attach Certificate of Employer or Competent Authority).
Education : 10 + 2 Or Equivalent with Mathematics and Physics as subjects.
Training Charges : Flying charges approved by DGCA up to PPL or 60 hours whichever is earlier, will be met by the Government.
Living Expenses : 350.00 per month for male candidates and 450 per month for female candidates restricted to 15 month.
Books : 100.00 per annum will be paid for the purchase of books.
Licence and Medical Examination Fees : Expenditure will be borne by the Government.
Traveling Expenses : One single second class train fare at the time of Report for flying training
Number of Scholarship : 40
Period of Scholarships : Total period of training will be 24 months (From the date of Joining) for the period actually spent to obtain a PPL which ever is earlier.
Training Institution : One of the approved Flying Clubs / Institutes to be selected by the Director General of Civil Aviation. A choice may be given by the Candidates.
Selection : Initial selection of the candidates will be on the basis of their performance in written test to be conducted at the specified centers in English, General Knowledge, Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
