Career For Women In the Armed Forces:
Women Officer is employed in all the three services i.e Army, Navy and Air Force. Women are offered commission in all the three forces only as Short service Commission. The tenure is 5 years extendable up to 14 years. It is only in the medical branch the women officers are given permanent Commission.
Indian Army:
After every Six months, 75 women are inducted for training at
the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. These women are called Lady Cadets
(LCs) The LCs undergo a six month military training after which they are
commissioned as Officers in the Indian Army. Unmarried women below the age
of 25 years can apply if they are graduates and below 27 years if they are post
graduates. The minimum height is 152 Cms. (5 feet)
Educational Qualifications Mini.mum acceptable:

B.A (Any Discipline), B.Com, B.Sc., (PCM/Computer/Non PCM), BBA, BCA - Min Marks 60 %

For all types of PG courses: Min Marks 50 % and above

BE/B.Tech: Just Pass
Note: Women in their final year of Engineering are also eligible to apply provided they should be in receipt of the degree prior to commencement of the course.
Women are given commission in the following Arms / Services:
Note: Presently the women Officers are not Commissioned in Infantry /Armoured /Artillery, these are called Fighting Arms.
As for as possible the women officers are posted only at headquarters where in other women officers are also posted.
Married women officers are as for as possible are posted near the Husband's place of work. (Applicable for central Government employees only).
