(This entry is only for the children of the Serving / Retired Regular Army personnel. This entry is applicable for both Male and Female Candidates)
General: Army Institute of Technology (AIT) has been established in 1994 exclusively for children of Serving and Retired Regular Army Personnel. The War Widows who are in receipt of liberalized pension are also eligible for admission into AIT. AIT is affiliated to University of Pune and has been recognized by All India Council for Technical Education. AIT is located near the DIGHI Hills in Pune on the Alandi Road and opposite the VSNL Complex. It is a fully residential and self contained campus.
All candidates, except war widows, joining AIT are required to furnish a Bond stating that He/She will accept to serve in the Indian Army Subject to being found fit by the Services Selection Board and the Medical Board.
Two Boys and One Girls hostels are available with separate mess and kitchen facilities for each. It is mandatory to dine in the students mess if a student opts to stay in the hostel. Students whose parents / relatives reside in Pune are permitted to stay under their own arrangements.
Discipline Of Study and Seats: AIT Offers four Year B.E coursed in three disciplines Viz:-
The intake in the first year is 60 seats per discipline with an additional 10% (6 per discipline) allowed cater for drop outs/ cancellations.
Eligibility:
Age: 16 to 21 years. As on 01 July in the year the course is to commence.
Educational Qualification: The candidates should have passed the (10 + 2) . with PCM obtaining not less than 50 %marks in aggregate of all three papers taken together.
Important Information: There is only one course in a year commencing in July each year. The training is for a total duration of 4 years. In the third year based on the Screening Test both Boys and Girls are sent for the Services Selection board Interview. Candidates successful in the SSB get a stipend of Rs 8000/- per month. On completion of training at the AIT the students who have qualified in the SSB go to the Indian Military Academy Dehradun for one year of further military training.
How to apply: The prospectus and Application form can be obtained from "Army Institute of Technology, Dighi Hills, Pune- 411015".On payment of Rs 500/- per copy by bank Draft drawn on any of the nationalized bank is favour of " AIT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION A/C" PAYABLE AT Pune. The last date of Application is 01 March every year.
Note: Candidates studying in Class +2 can submit their application provisionally.
Selection Procedure: There will be an Entrance Examination for admission to AIT which will be conducted at 33 centres in India and Nepal on 01 may every year. Tests: there will be an objective type of paper of 120 minutes duration in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. (at the level of class XII CBSE Syllabus)- Minus Marking
Is done to evaluate the answer sheets. Results would be announced during the first week of June.
Physical Standards: The candidates should be certified by OC MH/ Regd Medical Practitioner to be in a state of good health , both physical and mental.
